Forty Three

I have been off the bike the past 3 days and have had a lot of time to rest and further plan my spring/summer/fall/winter backpacking trips. My back Dr. suggested that I try and find something that I can also use for training while still keeping me interested/helping strenghten my back. So I am doing two things to help improve my cycling habit. 1) I will be seeing a strength trainer 3 days a week for the month of March at my Dr. facility, and 2) I will doing at least loaded hike a week, and 1 1-2night trips a month starting in March. I will be going out on a few overnights next week, and the week after to test gear etc. I have been doing a lot of thought about getting it as light as I can, especially for my back. It will be nice to see the trails from a new perspective and should really help with my MTB training. The goal of this will be to crush out some serious trail on and off the bike this season. I ride a SS for a reason, and I will look at my hiking from that same mindset. Simple is better, and have fun no matter what.

  1. I don't see any chinamen on this list.

While I'm thinking about it, I've got quite a few of those little tissue packs like the ladies carry around in their purses you can have; A drug-rep dropped them off at the clinic a long time ago. They're perfect for throwing in your pack for TP usage.

  2. I still haven't made up my nutrition list yet, but have no fear the chinamen will be in the mix with various other botanicals/minerals. Goji Berries, Acai, and possibly even some jenkem?! I appreciate the tissue offer, but I will be packing the good shit for shit. Looks like first trip may be next weekend, and you are always welcome to join in homey.

  3. Real men don't use TP. They use rocks and/or sticks and then bury them - very "Leave No Trace." And if there is snow, that is always your best choice for TP - quite refreshing.

You'll have to let me know how you like your homemade stove, man. I made a double-walled alcohol stove out of V8 cans that weighs about an ounce, and I love it.

  4. I once wiped my ass on a trip with my hand and then washed up with waterbottle and my soap. I will stick with my tp, bury, hide method. If that makes me less a man than so be it.

  5. I think a little part of me just died.

I think I'll go bury it under some sticks.

  6. Clearly, you are more of a man than I'll ever be if you wiped your ass with your hand.

I looked more at that stove you're going to build. That thing is incredible! Your trip is going to be amazing, man. I'm so jealous.

  7. I'm never shaking your hand again. That is all.
